

If you own an Android, there are some great alternatives to Procreate for Android that you can check out. Procreate Pocket cannot be used with an Apple Pencil since the pencil is not yet compatible with the iPhone. Procreate Pocket is slightly different from Procreate due to screen real estate space, but it largely boasts most of the same features. Procreate also offers Procreate Pocket designed for iPhones. Procreate will work on iPads running iPadOS 14.4 or later, and you can use either the 1st Generation Apple Pencil or the 2nd Generation Apple Pencil, depending on which your iPad is compatible with. It isn’t available for other tablets, which means it harnesses a lot of abilities from the iPad’s technological advances-including the Valkaryie engine power. They are largely competing with each other, but each has individual options that the other doesn't offer. Below the advertising banner is the easily discoverable option to start a new document and Fresco’s new and upcoming features. The sidebar navigation contains sections titled ‘Home,’ ‘Your Work,’ ‘Learn,’ and ‘Discover.’ To the right of the sidebar sits a large banner prompting the user to visit the ‘Discover’ page if the user clicks on this, it takes them to the page which showcases live-streamed artist videos. Fresco has an over-saturation of tools and icons, and I felt that the interface was so difficult to navigate that I quickly closed the app.

The app was created to provide a more ‘painterly’ experience for art-making on iPads, and to compete with similar apps such as Procreate.Įager to try out Adobe’s latest creation, I downloaded the app on its initial release date.
